The “Big D” wasn’t too big for Muscatine Community College’s (MCC) Business Professionals of America Chapter. The MCC chapter and its student members brought home some high honors at the BPA’s National Conference just completed in Dallas, TX.
The chapter received Quality Chapter Distinction, recognizing its committed to students and work in BPA-related activities.
BPA is a nationwide organization for students majoring in business, office and other related fields. It is devoted to preparing students through leadership, citizenship, academic and technical skills. The organizations conduct a number of contests during its annual conferences to further promote those skills.
Two MCC students took the national conference stage to accept honors.
Competing against students from across the country, Griffin Lenth of Welton and Juan Lugo of West Liberty shared fourth place honors in the Website Design Team Event. Lenth also placed sixth in Advanced interview Skills and Lugo finished ninth in Computer Network Technology.
Lenth majored in IT Security and Forensics, while Lugo majored in IT Networking. Both graduated this year.
MCC has had a very active BPA club for many years, annually attending both state and national conferences. It was also recognized for its commitment at this year’s state conference with an Outstanding Quality Chapter Award.
