Gail Ray took home First Place at the Figge College Invitational for her piece titled Entertaining Angels Unaware, 2018, made of wood, oil paint and found objects. Pictured to the right in front of her piece is the SCC Art student. Part of Ray’s winning piece was actually made in her sculpture class as part of an assignment.
This year marks the tenth incarnation of the College Invitational. Students from Scott and Clinton Community College were included in this exhibition. Six other area colleges and universities were participants, including Augustana College, Black Hawk College, Knox College, Monmouth College, St. Ambrose University, and Western Illinois University.
Art professors from each of the participating colleges were tasked with selecting the top works from their school to provide the framework for this year’s College Invitational. Scott Community College had a total of seven students in the exhibit.
The exhibit is on display through August 12. See more about the exhibit on the Figge’s website.
